Hydrogen Energy Systems, LLC (HES) focuses on renewable energy storage. Through a patented technology, our system absorbs, holds as a solid, and releases hydrogen on demand to power fuel cells or gen-sets. Our system integrates very well with renewable energy generation systems and may be easily placed directly in-line or off-grid. The energy storage system is capable of storing energy generated by wind, solar or off-peak electricity and stores that energy as solid hydrogen. The system releases the hydrogen to a fuel cell or gen-set, thereby supplying electric on demand in a managed system. The product is modular, accommodates stationary or mobile applications, stores 30X the energy of compressed or liquid hydrogen, is scalable, safe, and has no hazardous components or emissions. The system provides on-site bulk power storage, power back-up, reserve power, end-of-line support and peak-shaving (load leveling), reducing peak demand and time-of-use energy needs allowing for grid stabilization.

Hydrogen Energy Systems, LLC, (HES), was organized on December 6, 2007 for the purpose of advancing renewable energy storage in the form of solid hydrogen or metal hydride storage and generation systems for utility applications and transportation applications. HES is an Akron, Ohio based company working to serve the global alternative energy market.

HES maintains a two (2) track business discipline for advancing the technology. The disciplines are: 1) Utility Applications for the purpose of load-leveling, end-of-line support and wind applications that address intermittency challenges with wind, and,
2) Transportation Applications in auto and mass transit applications.

Neither application requires displacing the internal combustion engine nor the elimination of existing electric generation methods. This technology is integratable with fuel cell technology, wind, and solar. The technology is designed to eliminate greenhouse gases and to serve as an alternative to fossil fuels.

The development of this technology dates back to 1960 when Stan and Iris Ovshinsky began their work developing technologies around the hydrogen loop.

Stanford R. Ovshinsky is the co-founder of Energy Conversion Devices, Inc. (ECD), the company he founded with his late wife, Iris Ovshinsky. Stan holds approximately 360 U.S. patents and is the author of over 300 scientific papers ranging from neurophysiology to amorphous semiconductors. He is the primary inventor of such technology as the Ovonic® thin-film photovoltaic technology and its continuous web multi-junction roll-to-roll machine, Nickel-Metal Hydride Battery, Universal Memory (OUM) also known as Phase Change Memory (PCM), Erasable and Re-writable CDs, and the Hydrogen technology which will be used in HES product applications. Stan was born and raised in Akron, Ohio. Stan and Iris developed the Hydrogen Loop as the basis on which they built the entire ECD alternative energy systems technology. The solar-hydrogen and wind-hydrogen economies offer the most significant renewable energy source on which entire new industries will be built.
